Lot 19 Times

SLOTS 19

The 18th century papers of Antoine Laumet, Sieur de Lamothe Cadillac, include descriptions of the Huron Indian settlements that preceded the French farmers of LaSalle. Cadillac was very impressed with the agricultural prowess of the Hurons, and he made special note of their 8-foot tall corn stalks. He was equally impressed with their gambling prowess. The natives bet feverishly at lacrosse, and wagered their most valuable possessions (furs, weapons, daughters) in a dice-like game called ìBowl.î What better way to commemorate these entertaining activities than to build a tribal casino on Lot 19, complete with a lacrosse field where local children would learn to play this traditional sport. The casino itself would serve double duty as an historical museum about the native people of the Windsor area. Whatís more, open betting on childrenís lacrosse games would help temper the fire of aggressive and demanding parents.
