Derridraw Prototypes

Derridraw is a project about the inability of postmodern philosophy to ground itself. For this installation, I laid out a copy of Jacques Derrida's book, Chora L Works in a traditional gardening flat, and planted radish seeds in holes that are pierced through the book (part of the original book design). This piece encapsulates a research project that I have undertaken, which involves tracing an anti-agricultural strain from Plato to Derrida.

Derridraw, Prototype A Here, radish greens were simply inserted into the holes of the book.

Derridraw, Prototype B In this prototype, radishes were forced to sprout through the holes of the book. They were started in my garage under a basic fluorescent light to ensure a long, spindly sprout.
