ALLOTMENT GARDEN 19
As vegetable gardening is increasingly monopolized by large-scale agri-businesses, people are bound to become nostalgic for old-fashioned vegetables grown in dirt. In anticipation of this return to nature, Lot 19 could be subdivided perpendicularly into multiple strip farms that extend from the backyards of the adjacent neighborhoods. Some enterprising neighbors of Lot 19 have already practiced harvesting the vegetables. But now they wouldnít have to wait until dark to do the picking. Residents would have the option to rent the strip of land directly behind their house and plant a crop that has been pre-approved through a co-op style organization. Resident X would plant tomatoes, resident Y would plant beans, resident Z would plant lettuce, and so on. The whole project could be overseen by local farmers who are too old to work their own land, but could still provide a wealth of expertise and strict management to the new tenants.
